Leavening is one of the southern most villages in the district of Ryedale and lies in North Yorkshire. To the south of the Vale of York there is a region of chalky rolling hills called the Yorkshire Wolds. It is on the northern foothills that Leavening lies some fifteen miles north-east from York. As with many small villages tucked away in valleys and on hills, they tend to get over looked. So as a remedy to this, I give you Leavening at the foot of the Wolds. I hope you find this small contribution entertaining and informative. Browse the Website for more information about Leavening.
Please note that although this site contains village history it is not intended to be an aid to those investigating their family history.
